Seamless Process for High School Diploma Acquisition

Johnson’s Vivian Learning Academy specializes in offering flexible high school diploma solutions. Catering to adults needing a diploma for employment purposes, or to teenagers requiring a quick diploma due to behavioral issues, our application-based service is tailored to your unique needs. We facilitate a convenient procedure for you to achieve a high school diploma or a GED certificate. After completing our online application, submit a certified check or money order amounting to $995. This non-refundable fee is applicable after three weeks. As a recognized member of Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce and accredited by the National Association of Private Schools, we ensure a credible education experience. We hold registrations with the National Association of Private Schools and acknowledgment from the Texas Education Agency.

This application is recommended for adults needing a high school diploma for employment reasons or for older teens who need a diploma quickly due to behavior issues; in some cases a GED.

Complete this form and mail a certified check or money order in the amount of $995.00 with your application. This money is non-refundable after three weeks. Johnson- Vivian’s Learning Academy, LLC provides a secular curriculum based on the course standards and objectives set forth by the school.  Some courses are self-published.   All publishers are considered. Books are provided with enrollment at no additional cost above tuition rates

Students’ needs are considered when assigning texts and may be changed if more appropriate materials become available or when current materials are no longer available.   Most books are online with supplementary materials used when appropriate.

Our curriculum is self-instructional, individualized, and academically sound.  Since each child has a different learning style and mental capabilities, it is important for us to use individualized.

Materials that recognize each child’s individual strengths and weaknesses.

Students excel using JAVACCS’s award-winning CD-ROM on-line curriculum and with our purchased on-line curriculum from Ingenuity My Path, Pearson Prentice Publishing, and Triand, Inc., and Holt McDougal Publishing.    This stimulating multimedia and interactive format infuse the learning process with plenty of excitement, and Christian content and values.  We also incorporate Holt McDougal Publishing, Pearson Prentice Hall Publishing, Triand, Inc., the Bible curriculum, and creditable resources teachers from Humble & Aldine ISD. First Grade Online Learning.

Attending first grade online with Johnson Vivian’s Learning Academy gives students multiple advantages. Not only will they become familiar with using technology from a young age, but they also begin to learn to take responsibility for their education as they work with parents to complete lessons at a pace best for them. First graders will begin learning study habits along with foundational skills and concepts. Students in online fifth grade courses at Johnson Vivian’s Learning  Academy focus on sharpening their skills through critical thinking. In virtual fifth grade classes, students refine their knowledge of grammar and structure, math operations, physical and life science, design principles, technological applications, and United States history.

Gifted and Talenteg

At Johnson Vivian’s Learning Academy, we also offer The Gifted and Talented program for elementary school students is available for students who qualify, beginning in third grade. When appropriate, advanced younger students may have the opportunity to enroll in these courses or work at a higher grade level.  And we understand the importance of offering elementary course electives and activities to give young students a well-rounded educational experience. Electives cover a wide range of topics—from learning a world language to mastering the skills of daily living to appreciating the arts. Our many activities and clubs also provide opportunities for students to learn by doing.  Student interaction and participation in the virtual classroom is critical to success in the overall education process.

Virtual Middle School Curriculum

Johnson Vivian’s Learning  Academy’s online middle school curriculum for grades 6–8 challenges students to take more control over their educational journey and explore the possibilities an online education can deliver. Online 6th Grade Curriculum

Sixth graders enter a new stage of growth and discovery. They explore literary genres, ponder ethical questions and literary themes, practice writing expressions and equations, develop statistical thinking, and discover how science affects their daily lives. Students also explore ancient civilizations and American art in virtual sixth grade course.

Online Learning for 7th Graders

The online seventh grade courses at Johnson Vivian’s Learning Academy encourage students to analyze the complex relationships between literature, math, science, and more. Reading selections from a variety of genres, solving real-world math problems, and investigating how living things interact are just a few ways that students enhance their knowledge in virtual seventh grade classes.

Online Learning for 8th Graders

The online eighth grade courses at Connections Academy are structured to help students master subject material in preparation for high school. Students examine the physical and chemical properties of matter at an atomic level and continue to strengthen comprehension and vocabulary skills by reading diverse texts. They also learn how to solve linear equations to prepare for algebra in online eighth grade classes. 

Students vary their education with exposure to many different subjects and activities in the middle school curriculum. Students in online middle school programs choose from a wide range of elective courses and become involved in a variety of virtual clubs and activities. They can join clubs that enrich them in whole new ways, like competing in Mathematical Olympiads or writing for the school newspaper.

Interacting in the Online Classroom

Student interaction and participation in the virtual classroom is critical to success in the overall education process. While most of the instruction supports anytime, anywhere learning, students also participate in a live online classroom environment through the Pearson Online Classroom. The Pearson Online Classroom delivers everything a student needs in one place, from accessing their lessons and assessments to communicating with teachers and tracking progress. 

During live instruction, teachers reinforce challenging concepts and motivate students to become active learners—engaging and participating in activities, asking questions, and collaborating with peers through the microphone and chat. These interactions foster collaboration and bring the curriculum to life while allowing teachers to build meaningful relationships and gain an understanding of lesson comprehension.

At this level of high school at Johnson Vivian’s Learning Academy, the 9–12 education features core curriculum courses including, high school science, math, English, and social studies. Electives in varied topics such as digital photography, marine science, game design, and world languages encourage students to explore and grow to become well-rounded individuals. Honors and Advanced Placement®** courses provide the challenge needed for college preparation. In some states, early college credit is available. Students can also prepare for the future by joining college and career clubs.

9th Grade Curriculum

By completing the 9th grade English curriculum, students will learn how make connections between characters’ experiences and their own while reading both fiction and nonfiction, as well as focus on analytical and expository writing. The early high school math curriculum commonly includes key algebra or geometry concepts, such as solving systems of equations and inequalities, reasoning, and proofs, and more. Our core 9th grade curriculum also includes multiple options for history, geography, language, and science courses. Contact your local school for more information.

10th Grade Curriculum

In our online 10th grade courses, students will expand their knowledge of world literature across genres, honing their essay and creative writing while reinforcing critical vocabulary and grammar skills. Whether exploring the relationships of intersecting lines and angles or diving into linear and quadratic systems, online 10th grade math courses provide the rigor to reinforce foundational skills. Students also expand their understanding of history, the economy, and the development of civilizations and nations of today. Our 10th grade science curriculum includes multiple options such as online biology courses, which offer an introduction to cells, plants, animals, and genetics. 11th Grade Curriculum

Our 11th grade curriculum provides the opportunity to experience more elective courses tailored to fit a student’s unique needs and interests – from career and technical selections to honors or Advanced Placement courses. Students build on their core reading and writing skills with our 11th grade literature curriculum, which focuses on American literature. By completing analysis and research papers on longer works, they expand their vocabulary and grammar to become more thoughtful and effective readers and writers. In the 11th grade online math courses, students may examine linear and quadratic systems, graph behavior, and polynomial functions. We offer a variety of history, geography, and science courses, including U.S. History, Chemistry and Physics. 12th Grade Curriculum

Our 12th grade online curriculum is designed to ensure students are prepared for wherever life takes them after graduation. With a variety of courses including college preparatory options such as Advanced Placement and honors courses and career and technical education, students can begin to explore next steps while ensuring they meet graduation requirements. Twelfth grade English coursework continues vocabulary development and mastery of communication skills to prepare the student to write creative narratives, expository and persuasive essays as well as research papers. The 12th grade math curriculum offers many options, including learning integration and derivatives in Calculus. Other options for online 12th grade courses include physics, environmental science, foreign language, economics, and psychology. Johnson- Vivian Learning Academy, LLC Policy, and Procedures

Maintenance of Educational Records

Transcript records will be maintained in a fireproof safe in a locked room with limited access.

Transcripts will be uploaded to a secure off-site repository daily.

Other records will be maintained in fireproof locked files at the school location which has limited access.

Credit Transfer Policy

Credits are considered for transfer on the following terms:

 Presented on an official transcript from an accredited institution bearing JOHNSON VIVIAN’S’s Seal.   Documentation of home education courses from a certified teacher or from a school district home education office.   Performance assessment that meets Johnson- Vivian Learning Academy, LLC criteria.  Transcripts received from another accredited institution, primary, secondary, or post-secondary.

Transfer of Credits from Non-Accredited Schools:

A student transferring to Johnson Vivian’s Learning Academy  from a non-accredited school will be enrolled provisionally and must pass all course work the first academic year Johnson- Vivian Learning Academy, LLC receive credit for previous work.  If all grades are not satisfactory or passing, the committee will conduct a subject-by-subject review of the student’s record and of his/her performance at Johnson- Vivian Learning Academy, LLC Academic programs are adjusted to the individual needs of the student.  An example given is if a university requires courses outside of our progression plan, such as four science credits instead of three required by Johnson- Vivian Learning Academy, LLC.

Grades 6-8 are provided with specialized curriculum according to the individual needs of the student.  (See K-5 Curriculum above)

School Administration Policy

The President, Administrative Director, and the Board of the Johnson- Vivian Learning Academy, LLC retain the authority to:

• Establish and monitor policies for the daily operation of the school.

• Ensure the achievement of the stated purposes of the school.

• Administer the budget.

• Select, assign, retain, or dismiss personnel.

• Every effort will be made included to consider private school students  to consider the needs and desires of the students, parents, personnel, and National Association of Private Schools (NAPS) when establishing, monitoring, and maintaining the policies and operations of Johnson- Vivian Learning Academy, LLC

Awarding of Credits and Diplomas

Credit shall be granted when students satisfactorily complete the assignments for the course.

*Credit for School Community Volunteer Service will be transferred as a “C” if a NG is posted on previous transcripts.

• Diplomas shall be awarded when students satisfactorily complete the courses required to earn a high school diploma.

• Students may follow the 22 Credit College preparatory, 24 credit General Education, or 18 credit General Education curriculum. See the State of Texas.  We modified this depending on the student transcript.

• A minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

• Provisions may be made for students to change their diploma track when necessary.

K-% are promoted no student should repeated a grade no more than once.

*If a student wishes to withdraw from our school and return to his/her home schooling their schools or district need to request test scores,  if not then we refer them to do the tutorial recommended by TEA at the links below.  The school district and TEA can go in and see their score and rate them accordingly.

To earn an elementary certificate from Johnson Vivian’s Learning Academy, students must complete the following courses.   From The Johnson Vivian Learning Academy with a promotion to the next grade level and   A 2.0 GPA is required to earn a high school diploma at Vivian’s Digital Learning Academy.  Students seeking state scholarships may need to meet additional requirements.

High School Program Consists of These Courses:

English I, II, III, and IV (9th -12th Grade)

Literature I, II, III, and IV (9th – 12th Grade)

Math – This varies with each student’s needs, but typically math would consist of Beginning Algebra, Algebra 1/Geometry, and Algebra II.

Social Studies – World Geography, U.S History, World History, Economics, and Government.

Sciences – 4 sciences are required to graduate – Choices are Biology, Life Science, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physical Science, Human Anatomy, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, Bible, and Honors Environmental Science.

To complete the requirements for graduation at your pace would approximately take a student two to two & 1/2 years depending on his/her learning rate and time outlined and spent on each course.

You May Choose from the following Four Programs

Johnson – Vivian’s Learning Academy, LLC has four different programs for earning your high school diploma. They are: 

  1. The SIMPLE PACE EXTENSION PROGRAM (Recommended for teenagers that need assistance from the teacher and a more disciplined program).  Very Structured for the un-structured learner.
  • The RAPIDITY PACE PROGRAM (Recommended for those not wanting to bother with sending their work in to the teacher every two weeks; not as structured as the Simple Pace Program.) Very independent.
  • The SHORT-TERM HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA PROGRAM (Recommended for adults needing a high school diploma for employment or for special situations arising in teens WITH BEHAVIOR ISSUES).  Usually a court orders GED OR High School Diploma.
  • PARENT AND STUDENT PROGRAM is available for high school students wanting to attend this school, but the parent wants to be the teacher.  Parent Guided.
